Privacy Policy
Granite Azalea Kabushiki Kaisha works inside manufacturing plants, photographing sample parts and reading years of quality records. Most of what we handle is our clients' production data rather than personal data, but inspection records carry operators' names and shift details, and our own enquiries come from individuals. This policy covers both, and follows Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).
1. Information we collect
- Enquiries: Name, company, job title, email address and the inspection question described in the contact form.
- Plant visits: Names of the staff who host us and sign us in, and any visitor badge or safety induction records the plant requires.
- Quality records: Defect logs, inspection sheets and lot histories supplied for a Defect Record Analysis. These may include operator names or IDs, shift patterns and line assignments.
- Images: Photographs of sample parts captured under plant lighting for a Feasibility Study. We frame images on the part and avoid capturing people; any person who appears incidentally is cropped or blurred before analysis.
- Training attendance: Names of participants in an Operator Handover Training session, for the attendance record we return to you.
2. How we use it
Enquiry details are used to reply and to arrange a scoping call. Plant and attendance records are used only to run the visit or session. Quality records and images are used only to produce the study or analysis you commissioned. Where operator identifiers are not needed to find a defect pattern — which is usually the case — we replace them with neutral codes before analysis, so that results describe shifts and lines, not individuals. We never use your records or images to train systems for other clients.
3. Sharing
Your data is seen only by the Granite Azalea staff on your project. Storage and processing run on cloud services contracted under confidentiality terms; where these store data outside Japan, we choose providers whose safeguards meet the APPI standard and tell you which region is used. We disclose information to authorities only when required by Japanese law. We do not sell personal information.
4. Security
Client records are held in project folders with access limited to named staff and protected by two-factor authentication. Removable media brought into a plant is encrypted, and data is transferred off it on the day of capture. Any incident affecting personal data will be reported to you and, where the APPI requires, to the Personal Information Protection Commission.
5. Retention
Raw images and supplied quality records are deleted, or returned on request, within sixty days of delivering the report. The report itself and anonymised summary figures are kept for five years. Enquiries without a follow-up are deleted after six months.
5a. Data from your suppliers and customers
Quality records sometimes include supplier names, customer part numbers or complaint references. We treat these as your confidential information, use them only to find defect patterns, and do not contact your suppliers or customers.
6. Your rights
You may request disclosure, correction, suspension of use or deletion of personal data we hold. Operators whose names appear in supplied records should direct requests to their employer, and we will support the employer in responding. Contact us at info@granite-azalea.com or 2-17-12 Iwamotocho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo 101-0032; we respond within fourteen days.
7. Revisions
This policy is reviewed when our methods change. The current version is always the one published here.
